Prior to his appointment as an Executive Board Member at the Capital Markets Authority, Mr. Fakih held a long and successful career within the ranks of the Bank of Beirut and the Arab countries (BBAC), where he was assigned a number of responsibilities, particularly in the field of Risk Management. In 2012, Mr. Fakih was appointed as Chief Risk Officer at the BBAC in addition to his role as the Director in charge of implementing the recommendations of Basel II and Basel III. Mr. Fakih was also the Director of the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and Chairman of Key Performance Indicators Team. Throughout his career at the Bank, Mr. Fakih held the positions of Director of Market and Operational Risk between 2005 and 2011, and Director of the Information Security Unit which he took over after a long tenure as the manager of the Choueifat Branch of BBAC between 1998 and 2005, and the Aley Branch between 1992 and 1998.
In addition to his work at the bank, Mr. Fakih was a lecturer at the Lebanese American University in Beirut from 2002 till 2012 and an expert lecturer at the Union of Arab Banks on Risk Management in the Banking Sector, and on the implementation of Basel decisions, where he delivered a number of training courses and workshops on these topics in Lebanon and the Arab countries.
Mr. Fakih holds an MBA from the Lebanese American University, and a FRM/Financial Risk Manager certificate / Global Financial Risk Manager from the GARP institution in the United States.
