CMA attends the Annual World Bank & IMF meetings as part of Lebanese Delegation

CMA Chairman Mr. Riad Salame attended the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) in Washignton D.C. accompanied by Vice Chairman of the CMA Mr. Sami Saliba and Secretary General Dr. Saade Chami, as part of the official Lebanese delegation to the annual meetings which included officials from Banque Du Liban, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Trade, as well as the Association of Banks in Lebanon.

As part of their visit, Mr. Saliba and Dr. Chami met with several officials from the U.S. Federal Reserve and FINRA, The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, whereby discussions focused on the importance of investor education as an important tool of enhancing the protection of investors and the willingness of FINRA to collaborate closely with the CMAs in order to further develop its capabilities in this intricate cross discipline field. In turn, FINRA officials commended the CMA on the latest regulatory developments at the CMA especially with the issuance of the foundational implementing regulations in collaboration with World Bank experts.
